Defend The Planet With The Way You Drive

It may be a concern for you if you are focused on the environment but you need to commute everyday. When we have to function in this community, for many of us a car of some kind is essential. If you have children of your own, you know how difficult it might be to take your kids around if you didn’t have a car. Nevertheless, as people have become more aware of the need to cut down emissions, it has become easier to find options to protect the environment.

If you wish to acquire a new car, you now have choices that are more environmentally friendly. There are pure electric cars that can produce practically no emissions but have the problem of how far they can travel before they need recharging. If you have a concern with charging your car, you can get a hybrid car that uses a combination of electricity and gas. The end result needs to be reduced gasoline consumption and lower emissions.

If hybrid cars are not all that attractive to you, you could get a normal car that offers good fuel consumption and emissions. The final decision you make may perhaps depend on the kind of journeys you generally do but you can certainly find models that are both efficient and economical. It is also crucial that you keep your car in good shape and serviced regularly as this will also make a difference and even under inflated tires can have an impact on fuel consumption.

If you drive carelessly, such as speeding or over-accelerating, you can expect to burn more fuel than necessary. Some trip planning can ensure you do not find yourself getting lost and traveling more miles than necessary. You should not use your car as storage since all the extra weight can cause you to use more fuel.

You may also discover that you drive your car when you don’t really need to. If you can walk to a nearby shop or to a local restaurant, why not take the opportunity to get some exercise and enjoy some fresh air. There is also a likelihood that you could car pool or share the driving with your others who live nearby. If you don’t enjoy riding in other people’s automobiles, you could volunteer to do all of the driving so they don’t have to.

If you change some of your driving practices and check out ways to reduce emissions, you will still be able to drive while helping the environment.

See Like an Owl When You Drive!

Driving high speeds is exciting and sometimes it’s a guilty pleasure, especially for those who enjoy driving with the point of crossing towards racing in the future. Although it’s not really wise to travel at high speed, it can’t be denied that if only we were not as limited as having poor night vision, people could probably go for a more decent speed at night. Travelling at night in wide highways from one place to another can be dangerous. In fact a huge number of vehicular accidents occur at night times and most of them are through driving. Travelling by air is actually considered to be the safest means of travelling and the most prone to accidents is travelling by road. But people don’t need to become an owl to see perfectly at night while they drive, they can just enhance their automobiles with the use of HID Bulbs. With these bulbs drivers can now see at night more clearly which secures them because of the amount of light emitted through these bulbs.

Many thanks go to BMW for inventing HID Light Bulbs. Since then driving has become safer and more secure, especially at night. These bulbs that were invented by the German Automobile company contain a gas called Xenon that allows the bulbs to produce a sufficient amount of light which is comparably brighter than its predecessors. From the definition of HID which means High Intensity Discharge, the bulbs itself produces a very bright light which usually comes out in a blue a blue or white shade although most manufacturers are developing new colors. Like other products, they vary from one manufacturer to the other including prices because there are cheap as well as very expensive hid kits.

With the use of these bulbs, users are given many advantages. Aside from adding security to drivers and passengers alike with its bright light, the use of such is also proven to be economical as well. The Xenon component allows the German creation to produce a sustainable amount of light at a minimum amount of power. Despite this sustainable amount of light being emitted, the bulb only uses minimum amount of power thus consuming less fuel.

The thrill of having to go for a speedy rate at night will not worry anyone anymore with the use of HID bulbs. It secures driving at night because your vision is as clear as that of an owl and it allows you to save on fuel consumption! Its one light that maximizes its use at the same time minimizes its cost!

Knowing The Parts of The Vehicle You Drive

When you sit for an HGV driver training course exam at any truck school or any other such institution, you will be asked to identify each of the parts of your vehicle and you will be asked to explain the pros and cons of those parts. The HGV training course that you have enrolled in will usually prepare you for this part of the test. Nevertheless, here are a few important parts you should be well aware about.

At the front of the vehicle are the lights, steering box and linkage. Check the lights for clean lenses, missing screws, cracks and condensation. Make sure the signal lights and head lights are working properly. Check the steering box for any missing bolts or any leaks from the steering fluid. Also check the steering linkage point for bends, cracks, non-factory welds and proper lubrication.

In the engine compartment, the oil, coolant and power steering fluid levels need to be checked. You need to pull out the oil dipstick, clean it and insert again to check oil level. If there are no proper line markings to determine coolant level, simply mention that the radiator cap can be removed to check the level. Do not however actually remove the cap. The water pump and air compressor also need to be checked for faults. Make sure there are no leaks under any of the engine components.

Once you get inside the vehicle you will have to start the engine before you check the clutch/gears, air and oil pressure gauge, voltmeter, air brake, steering and the hydraulic and parking brakes. Make sure the gears fall into place and the clutch should not play for more than two inches. The gauges should be checked for cleanliness and cracks. A minimum of 100PSI air pressure should be built in and the oil pressure should be normal just a few seconds after the engine has started. In cases where the oil gauge is not there, identify a warning light to indicate system failure. The air brake should be checked by building the pressure up, switching off the engine, releasing all brakes and pressing hard on the foot brake and holding it for one minute. Furthermore, mirrors, wipers and horns should be checked if they are correctly functioning. Finally, to check the parking brake put the vehicle on low gear and slowly let go of your foot from the brake and if the vehicle does not move then the brakes are working fine.
